Auburn Correctional Facility and its inmates were the inspiration for You Are Free to Go, my debut novel.  Those who live and work in Auburn feel the prison as a constant presence.  “Copper John,” the statue of the colonial soldier atop the building’s apex, watches over inmate and citizen alike.
